This is our application that was supposed to be just a simple mobile guide but became so much more – a learning platform with AR technology.
More than a mobile guide
We are proud to present ARtour, our mobile guide application that was originally created to help users explore European cultural heritage in the cemeteries, using advanced AR technology (Augmented Reality).
Today, ARtour is much more than just a mobile tour guide.
Main use of the mobile platform ARtour
Main use of the app consists of planning a route by adding attraction points to it. The app then informs you when you are about to get to the desired destination and educates you about that attraction site with the help of AR technology and additional content.
ARtour is a platform that allows you to create your own mobile guides, or use already created guides from other users. It is useful as both, a personal trip planner with navigation, or a simple tool for creating mobile guides for tourism organizations.
ARtour guiding system is based on GPS signal, so no other equipment is required. All the content and maps are synchronized with the device, and the app can work offline (the internet connection or constant data transfer is not required). One of the app’s most interesting features, especially for younger generations, is Augmented Reality.

That’s what the AR in ARtour’s name stands for. We use Augmented Reality to give you an even better and easier guiding system. ARtour also offers some other advanced features that are constantly being further developed.
App development never sleeps
Over the years ARtour has grown from a simple application to the mobile platform offering various functions, such as:
- you can create your own guide (e.g. a personal guide for the best restaurants in Maribor),
- you can create tests within guided routes,
- guides can be integrated into other websites,
- you can use automatic audio guides and
- you can create your own projects (scavenger hunt, learning by exploring…).
